The war dragged on for more than a decade, and many men died in the deserts and the jungles. Christopher was just 22 when his IFV was rocked by explosion and he was captured. He was terrified he was going to die, the enemy was ruthless, and prisoners were often shot out of hand. He was not killed, instead, an enemy officer walked down the line of prisoners, picking out the young, the small, the effeminate. Christopher was all of these things so he was chosen too.
